LEWISTON — Florence M. Lavoie, 97, of Lewiston, formerly of Sabattus, died Thursday, Feb. 24, at St. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion with her family at her side.
She was born in Biddeford, Nov. 15, 1913, the daughter of the late Ovide and Emilia (Champoux) Bergeron. She moved to Canada, at the age of three months, living there until 1959.
On Aug. 20, 1938, she married the late Albert Lavoie, who died on Jan. 6, 2004. Prior to her retirement, she worked at St. Mary’s Hospital as an Operating Room Assistant.
Florence loved French music, knitting and sewing. Her memberships included Sabattus Senior Citizens, Covenant 50 and former parishioner of Our Lady of The Rosary Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Denise and her husband, Gerard Leger, of Litchfield, Elize and her husband, Charles Pelletier, of Lewiston and Claudette and her husband, Robert Lacombe, of Sabattus; two sons, Donald and his wife, Ann Lavoie, of Lewiston and Rene Lavoie and his girlfriend, Claudette Dion, of Lewiston; one brother, Emeril and his wife, Irene Bergeron, of Lewiston; a daughter-in-law, Stella Lavoie of Manchester, N.H.; a sister-in-law, Claude Bergeron of Canada; 15 grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sons, Normand G. Lavoie and Gilles S. Lavoie; a sister, Bertha Piche; and two brothers, Rosairo and Gerard Bergeron.
