This is in response to the Sun Journal story (Feb. 18) about the funding request by Auburn School Superintendent Tom Morrill.

I would like to know if there is any relationship between the cost per student and hoped-for outcomes? How many graduates fall in the governor’s category of not-ready-for-community-college?

What happened to the belt-tightening we are all supposed to be doing to get out from under the debt load? If one tightens for two years, does that mean there is surplus money again?

The debt carried now is a symptom of management capacity, so we really have to look a little deeper than just per-pupil expenditures before any new spending can start.
