U.S. Rep. Michael Michaud, a well-known pro-life Democrat, stood on the correct side of history when he defended federal funds for the Planned Parenthood organization. Why Congress would want to strip funding from an organization that provides affordable testing for medical issues such as HIV is beyond me.

Raising a false argument about the organization providing abortions with federal funds undermines the great work it provides for the most needy people in our communities.

Voters across the country are, hopefully, voicing their concern about dangerous budget cuts such as those.

The legislative proposal is an attack on women and it is blatantly politically motivated.

I am happy Maine’s representatives stood up for women and responsible people who test themselves for sexually transmitted diseases.

Hopefully, more people in Congress will follow their lead and not roll back the country’s achievements.
