After two tries at it, the teams tonight are hoping the third time is a charm as we finally get to see the Eastern Class A boys’ and girls’ games decided.

In the 6 p.m. contest from Augusta, No. 3 Hampden Academy and No. 8 Messalonskee tussle for the girls’ crown. Following that contest, the No. 1 Bangor Rams will take on the No. 3 Edward Little Red Eddies for a berth in the state final.

The girls’ winner will move on to face West A No. 2 McAuley, which pulled out a thrilling overtime victory over top-seeded Deering on Monday in Portland.

On the boys’ side, No. 1 Cheverus outlasted No. 2 Bonny Eagle in a defensive struggle, and will meet the winner of tonight’s nightcap.
