MELBOURNE, Fla. — Robert R. “Frenchie” Charest died unexpectedly Jan. 31, at his home in Melbourne, Fla.

He was born Sept. 10, 1942, in Lewiston, the son of Adrien T. Charest and Eveline Ouellete. He grew up in Lewiston and attended local schools.

Robert was a chef in many resorts and restaurants Maine and Florida. He enjoyed walking the beach near his home in Florida. Robert loved to fish and enjoyed catching and preparing his “fish of the day.”

He is survived by one daughter, Tina Marie of Lewiston; one brother, Richard Charest and his wife, Lorraine, of Lewiston; two sisters, Rachel and husband, Leonard Cote, of Auburn and Jeanette Mieries of Shaumburg, Ill.; he leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Robert was predeceased by a sister, Germaine Leen of Portland.
