SANTA MARIA, Calif. — Frances Mabel Garneau Moffett died Feb. 18, in California.

She was born on June 24, 1921, in Peru and lived with her husband, Vernard I. Moffett in California, from 1986 until her death.

She retired from the U.S. Postal Service after many years. She started playing golf at the age of 66. At the Pismo Beach, Calif., Men’s Club Invitational, she took first place. In 1992, she received a trophy for having a low net, making her the club’s champion.

Frances was an accomplished seamstress and a master at crewel stitchery. She loved to knit and was a great cook.

Frances is survived by her sisters, Jeanne Blunda of Peru, Beverly Powell of Peru and Mrs. Donald (Priscilla) Hilgenberg of Matlacha, Fla.; her children include Mrs. Wayne (Brenda) Nakagawa of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Robert T. Moffett of Denver, Colo., Colleen J. Klessig of Sacramento, Calif., Craig and Linda Moffett of La Mesa, Calif., Mrs. Timothy (Cindi) Alls of San Diego, Calif., and John and Peggy Moffett of Yuma, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren, Akimi Nakagawa of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Andrew Nakagawa of Camarillo, Sarah Quinn of Thornton, Colo., Kevin Moffett of Denver, Colo., Matthew Ford of Sacramento, Calif., Jimmy and Nick Moffett of La Mesa, Calif., Thomas Hutchison of San Diego, Calif., Chelsea Alls of San Diego, Calif., Tommie and Jonathan Moffett of Yuma, Ariz., and Jeremy M. Moffett of San Diego, Calif.; and six great-grandchildren, Kirin A. and Noa M. Nakagawa of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Michael and Julia Moffett of Thornton, Calif., Liam Quinn of Thornton, Colo., and Audrey R. Alls of San Diego, Calif.

She was predeceased by her father, Omer W. Garneau Sr.; her mother, Mabel A. (Knox) Garneau; four brothers, Cleston (Kack) Garneau, John Garneau, Marshall D. Garneau and Omer Garneau Jr.
