AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — The first meeting of the Maine River Flow Advisory Commission is a sure sign that spring is around the corner.

The panel meets Thursday at the Maine Emergency Management Agency offices in Augusta to share information and to explore the potential for spring flooding. Attendees will look at factors including short- and long-term weather forecasts, stream flow, river ice and snowpack.

The panel is composed of state, federal and industry representatives. It is led by director of the Maine Emergency Management Agency and the district chief of the U.S. Geological Survey’s Maine Water Science Center.
