The “brain drain” in Maine recently got disastrously worse. Dr. Dora Mills is the very bright, hardworking “doctor’s doctor” whom Gov. Paul LePage recently fired.

Many of us practicing medicine here in rural Maine came to trust and depend upon her sound judgment. She may be replaced by someone more “loyal”to the governor, but that person could not be more loyal or dedicated to us, the citizens of Maine.

I thank Dr. Mills, for all her help down through the years, and am very sad that she has been fired.

I wonder if Gov. LePage, or a member of his family, should need advice from a medical consultant, would LePage want him/her to be politically “loyal” or professionally superior?
