LEWISTON — Mystery for Hire will present its murder mystery/dinner theater production of “Politics Can Be Murder” on Saturday, March 26, at Marcos Restaurant. The show will benefit Odd Fellows’ & Rebekahs’ Home of Maine.

“The show makes lighthearted fun of political campaigns and politics, in general. We don’t pick on any particular politicians, but audiences will recognize some of the political character types, ” said Dan Marois, who with his wife, Denise, owns and operates Mystery for Hire.

“Politics Can Be Murder” covers the Senate campaign of incumbent Warren Hardstuff, who is being challenged by Hilton Paris III, an up-and-coming politician. The audience is also introduced to Hilary Hardstuff, the senator’s opinionated wife; George Stepitupalot, a political junkie and pollster; and Candy, a young woman who has political ambitions of her own.

Audience members are encouraged to take notes as they watch the mystery unfold in an attempt to figure out whodunit.

“What we do is pure fun,” Marois said. “It is a great combination of dining out and seeing a show at the same time. We perform the show between the courses of the meal and actors interact with the audience throughout the evening.”

“Politics Can Be Murder” will begin at 6 p.m., with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. Tickets, which include a full buffet, mystery show and tax and gratuity, are $30 per person, $50 per couple. For reservations, call Diane Bernier of Odd Fellows at 786-4616. Marcos Restaurant is at 12 Mollison Way.
