AARP speaker

PARIS — The Oxford Hills Chapter of AARP will meet on Monday, March 14, at the First Congregational Church, East Main Street, South Paris.

Lunch will feature a chicken dinner with all the fixings to be served at noon. The cost is $6.50 and reservations are required by calling Ruth at 744-9069 by noon on Friday, March 11.

The meeting will begin at 1 p.m., followed by a talk regarding the projects and work of the Community Kitchen at the Progress Center on Cottage Street, Norway, presented by Priscilla Burnett.

Missionaries to talk

PARIS — Jason and Ita Strout, missionaries in Santa Rosa, Argentina, will speak on Sunday, March 13, at the South Paris Baptist Church

Jason will speak at the 10:45 a.m. service, and the Strouts will present the work and needs of the recently started Santa Rosa Church in a talk at 6 p.m. They serve at the church along with Jason’s parents, Larry and Melissa Strout.

A love offering will be taken in the evening service to benefit the Santa Rosa Church. For more information, call the church at 743-6405.

Musher completes race

NORWAY — International Sled Dog Racing Association musher Aisling Shepherd of Norway took sixth in the adult 4-dog speed class at the David D. Merrill Memorial Challenge sled race in Norway on Feb. 27. Shepherd finished the 9.8 mile course with a total time of 44 minutes, 18 seconds.

The David D. Merrill Memorial Challenge was sanctioned by the International Sled Dog Racing Association and counts towards the International Championship Series for Sled Dog Racing. To learn more about sled dog racing or this event, visit www.isdra.org.

Waterford library closed

WATERFORD — The Waterford Library will be closed for renovations March 21 through April 2. Books borrowed in March will not be due till the library reopens.

Patrons are asked not to return books for the two weeks that the library is closed.

The library will gratefully accept donations for the summer book sale after the library reopens in April. Please do not bring book donations to the library until then.
