DEAR SUN SPOTS: Did you know that the Lions Tournament is the longest running youth hockey tournament in this country? Next year they will be celebrating their 40th anniversary. We would like to create a banner with a patch, pin or T-shirt to represent every year. Specifically, we are looking for 1973 to 1977 and then 1986 to 2009.

If you have an item you can donate, please send it to Lions Tourney, c/o Geiger School, 601 College St., Lewiston, ME 04240. Thank you, Sun Journal readers. — Amy, abanks@lewistonpublicschools.org

DEAR SUN SPOTS: This is in response to the person looking for scrubs at consignment stores (Feb. 10). I don’t know of any place in the area, but if the person is interested, I have been making my son’s scrub tops since 2001, along with other customers.

They purchase the fabric of their choice, and I charge a reasonable fee to sew them. If interested, I can be reached at 346-3373. My business goes by Jo-Jo’s Mending and Alterations.

Thank you for your column. — Jo-Jo, Minot

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am looking for a skein or partial skein of discontinued Red Heart yarn so that I can finish a project. The color is jade. Thank you in advance. — No Name, 491-3334, purple94@midmaine.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I just had to write a note to share some good things that happened to me. I am in my early 50s, disabled with fibromyalgia, and had some mini-strokes and was hospitalized. One day a nurse came in with a beautiful knitted lap throw, with all bright colors. It was so nice of the people who make them for patients. I could even take it home. God bless my community and thank you dearly. It brightened my stay.

I never knew much about strokes, thinking I am so young. I have to re-teach my brain to walk right. I just never imagined. Everyone should take the time to learn the causes and prevention of strokes. I am so lucky and blessed to be back home with my loved ones.

As I was recovering, one day I was looking out my window and saw that my car was so dirty. Finally, I went to the Mexico car wash, wondering how I was going to wash my car with a walker. A man approached me and asked if he could help me wash my car. I said I surely appreciated his help.

Getting in my car as he washed it, I started to cry. I was blessed again by another stranger. When he finished, he came to the window to give me the change, I told him to keep it. He said “any time.” Thank you, Jim.
