NORWAY — Stephens Memorial Hospital Vice President of Development and Community Relations Barbara Allen has announced that the hospital has been the recipient of a donation from Nate Durgin of South Paris.
Durgin, a senior at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, used his senior project to raise money for breast cancer awareness. He earned nearly $150 by selling soup at a local snow fest and delivered the donation to the hospital.
Allen said it was a timely donation because the 2011 Annual Fund at Stephens Memorial Hospital will support cancer programs and projects at the hospital.
After graduation, Durgin plans to head to the Midwest. He has been accepted at the University of Northwestern Ohio in High Performance Motorsports. He wants to get involved in building race cars.
However, when asked if he was headed to North Carolina (home of NASCAR) with his college degree, he said he will probably return to Maine since it’s all about his family for him, and that means Oxford Hills.
