LIVERMORE FALLS — Colonial Daughters Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, Farmington, presented the DAR Good Citizen Award to Holden Richard Parker on Feb. 16 at Livermore Falls High School. Parker is the son of Julia and Richard Parker Jr. of Livermore.
Marcia White, chapter regent, and Joanne Page, registrar, presented Parker with a Good Citizen pin and a certificate authorized and signed by National Society Daughters of the American Revolution President General Merry Ann T. Wright and Maine Society DAR Regent Virginia S. Spiller.
Good Citizen Committee Chairwoman Deborah J. Judkins of Upton said the chapter sponsors seven area schools to recognize excellence in high school seniors. Faculty nominates candidates for the honor each year. The person chosen must have demonstrated qualities defined by the National Society.
Faculty said Parker has a strong work ethic and shares that with his fellow students. He is a leader, works well with students and teachers, while not losing focus on the big picture. He is always ready to help when there is a need.
During his four years of high school he has participated in football, basketball and track, earning several letters. He is a musician and member of the jazz band, marching band, concert band and KV band.
During his sophomore year he was inducted into the National Honor Society and in his junior year he was a Boys State delegate. His freshman and junior year he was class president and his sophomore and senior year he was class vice president.
Parker would like to become an architect and perhaps attend Wentworth Institute of Technology or Northeastern University in the fall to major in architectural engineering.
