LEWISTON — Cecile P. Belanger-Bonney, 81, formerly of Mechanic Falls, died Tuesday, March 8, at St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion with her family by her side, following a long illness.
She was born in Lewiston, Sept. 1, 1929, the daughter of Albert and Charlotte F. (Martin) Pomerleau.
Cecile grew up in Leeds and moved to Lewiston at the age of 14, where she began her employment in the local shoe industry until 1986. She then retrained as a certified nursing assistant and worked for the Sarah Frye Home, as well as as a cook in the kitchen when she wasn’t well enough to be a nurse.
She loved hunting, fishing, and camping with family and friends in northern Maine and Moosehead Lake. She was an auxiliary member of the American Legion Post 150 of Mechanic Falls, and was an avid weekly bingo player.
Survivors include two sons, Earl A. Belanger and his companion, Claire Dobbs, of Minot and Richard Belanger and his wife, Jane, of Lewiston; one sister, Priscilla McCarthy and her husband, Cliff, of Vero Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren, Kandy Baldinelli, Steven Belanger and his wife, Melissa, Robert Belanger and his companion, Christine, and Kevin St. Pierre and his wife, Jessica; five great-grandchildren, Maegan, Kimberly, and Ashley Belanger, Kathi and Kari Baldinelli; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Earl Belanger in September 1982; her second husband, Owen Bonney August 1996; two grandchildren, Rochelle Belanger in September 1996 and Paul St. Pierre in March 2010.
