“As of Feb. 1, the Sun Journal requires all commenters to go through a verification process in order to comment on SunJournal.com. To do so, simply fill out your user profile completely and accurately and then check the box ‘please verify my status.’ After that, we’ll give you a call within one business day in order to verify that you are who you say you are. You can find more details about it at https://www.sunjournal.com/verified.”

DEAR SUN SPOTS: There will be a free public supper at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 148 Main St., Jay, on Saturday, March 12. Doors open at noon to help people stay warm and socialize.

The meal will be served from 4:30 to 6 p.m. and features boiled dinner, fish chowder, salad, bread, veggies and desserts.

To use the elevator: Come in the back door, push and hold the buzzer button on stairwell wall. You will hear it, and we will come help you.

Androscoggin Bank is our Friend of the Supper for this meal, along with continued support from Dunkin’ Donuts and our other wonderful supporters. Donations accepted but not required.

We still need many items for the dinner: 35 pounds corned beef, 30 pounds roast beef, 30 pounds cabbage, 30 pounds carrots, three 5-pound bags frozen peas, four large containers of beef broth, 50 pounds potatoes, 10 pounds chowder fish, 10 pounds sea legs, one box corn starch, one box brown sugar, one bottle vinegar, one bottle Worcestershire sauce, 10 packages split green peas, 5.5 gallons white milk, 1.5 gallons chocolate milk, 4.5 quarts half-and-half, four 2-liter containers of soda, 14 dozen dinner rolls, four heads lettuce, two bags fresh spinach, eight peppers assorted colors, six cucumbers, three red onions, 5 pounds tomatoes, 1 bundle celery, 40 pounds fresh vegetables, 5 pounds sharp cheddar cheese, watermelon or some other fresh fruit, your favorite homemade dish or dessert treat to share, and cash for things we need and can’t get any other way. — Mike, 779-6951, mikes04239@yahoo.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Root Cellar, 89 Birch St., Lewiston, will have a clothing distribution on Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

There will be free professional and casual clothing items and shoes of all sizes for infants, children, teens, men and women. It is open to everyone in the community.
