NORWAY — Laura Mae Halacy, 94, of the Milton Road, Milton Township, died Wednesday, March 9, at the Norway Living Center, Norway, with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Norway on March 3, 1917, the daughter of Nathan and Grace (Bean) Ethridge, and graduated from Norway High School Class of 1935.
Laura enjoyed camping, gardening, knitting and spending time with her family. For a few years she had worked at the Bethel IGA Store. She had a great sense of humor and loved to tell stories about the old days.
She was married in Rumford Center on May 8, 1941, to John E. Halacy, who died in Rumford on December 3, 1993.
Survivors include sons Richard Halacy and wife, Brenda, of Milton Township, Robert Halacy and wife, Barbara, of Dixfield, and Elliott Halacy and wife, Kathy, of Auburn; six grandchildren, Trina Bellegarde and husband, Charles, of Mexico, Michael Halacy of Milton Township, John Halacy of Milton Township, Douglas Halacy and wife, Theresa, of Lewiston, Janice LeBlond of Auburn, and Jason Halacy and wife, Heather, of Auburn; eight great-grandchildren; Tawn MacDonald of Milton Township and a special niece, Shirley Kimball and husband ,Richard, of Waterford.
