I look forward to the Monday edition of the Sun Journal for the “Maine during the Civil War” feature, as I am sure many folks do. It certainly makes one realize that the local men who served, for the most part, were not only soldiers to be proud of, but their families endured hardships in their absence.

The articles are informative and have a local spin to them that is not found in most history-sourced books. They are indeed enjoyable reading and I would inform anyone who might be interested in their content to buy or borrow a copy on Mondays or go to maine.gov/sos/arc/sesquicent/civilwarwk.shtml for the entire collection, as instructed in the Encore section of the Sun Journal.
