RUMFORD — June A. Merchant, 82, of Route 108, died Friday, March 11, at Rumford Hospital following a brief illness, with her loving family at her side.
She was born in Dixfield on Oct. 28, 1928, a daughter of Erroll and Emma (Kidder) Hodge.
June was educated in Dixfield schools and was a graduate of Dixfield High School in 1947.
She was employed for many years with Stowell-McGregor in Dixfield and later for Foster Manufacturing.
June was a member and past president of the Dixfield American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed her many trips with the senior citizens.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, playing golf and spending time with her family.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to Dr. Ledesma, the nursing staff and everyone at Rumford Hospital for the wonderful care given to June.
Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Leland G. Merchant, of Rumford; two children, Dennis G. Merchant and wife, Linda, of Auburn, and Cheryl A. Myles and husband, Arty, of Wilton; four grandchildren, Christopher McIntire, Carrie Elliott, Jason McIntire and Jonathan Merchant; three great-grandchildren, Landon McIntire, Jamie Elliott and Whitney McIntire; and a brother, William Hodge and wife, Barbara, of Dixfield.
She was predeceased by her parents; and two sisters, Nadine Robbins and Pamela Willard.
