AUBURN — Cecile L. Blanchette, 91, formerly of 168 Randall Road, Auburn, passed away at Clover Manor on Saturday, March 12.
She was born in Berlin, N.H., on May 4, 1919, a daughter of the late Ovide and Marie (Deblois) Lessard. She was educated in Berlin and was a graduate of Berlin High, Class of 1937.
Cecile worked for the Public Works Department for three years and as a tax collector for five years. She married Armand Blanchette on Aug. 16, 1943, and moved to Lewiston in 1945. After moving to Lewiston she worked for Lown Shoe, Holy Family School Library and then, with her husband, at Armand’s Auto Body.
Cecile belonged to Ladies of St. Anne, Holy Family Church and St. Mary Auxiliary. Throughout her time of retirement she was a participant in the golf league at Prospect Hill and various bowling leagues.
Cecile lived the past two years at Clover Manor, where she was extremely happy, and made numerous friends. During her time there she participated in various activities, always enjoying her walks outside as well as the exercise classes that were available. On the weekends at Clover, Cecile would instruct the exercise classes with her fellow residents.
She is survived by her daughter, Ann Reynolds and her husband, Lawrence Jr., of South Portland; her brother, Norman Lessard of Greene; and many nieces and nephews.
Cecile was predeceased by her husband, Armand, on April 27, 2003.
