Dog obedience
LEWISTON — Great Falls Dog Obedience Club will be starting a six-week dog obedience class starting Wednesday, March 16. Puppies must be at least 3 1/2 months old and vaccinated. LRTC skills
LEWISTON — Five students from the LRTC Culinary Arts Program/The Green Ladle competed March 11 at the statewide SkillsUSA competition in Bangor. Students have earned gold, silver and bronze awards as follows: 

Gold to Jack Champagne in job skills demonstration; Bronze to Daisy Taylor in commercial baking; Silver to Mercedes Hursh in skills demonstration.

Jack is now eligible to advance to the national competitions in June to be held in Kansas City.

Osteoporosis

AUBURN — St. Mary’s physical therapist Becky Harrington will present an information session about osteoporosis from 10 a.m. to noon, on Thursday, March 17, in the second floor conference room at the Center for Physical Rehabilitation, St. Mary’s Auburn Campus, at the corner of Gracelawn Road and Turner Street.

She will explain what osteoporosis is, its symptoms, how it is diagnosed and how cancer patients have a higher risk for developing the disease. Becky will also provide strategies for achieving better bone health.

Eastern Star meeting

LISBON FALLS — Pioneer Chapter No. 11 Lisbon Falls, Order of the Eastern Star, will hold its annual meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 17, at the Lisbon Falls Masonic Hall, Route 196. There will be a potluck supper before the meeting at 6 p.m.

AUBURN — Maureen Higgins of the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing will present an interactive discussion about how we can reduce our risk of cancer and detect it early while it is most treatable, at noon on Thursday, March 17, at the Auburn Public Library, 49 Spring St.

Attendees may bring a bagged lunch if they like, or order out at The Library Cafe. The library provides drinks and dessert.

Trikes for Tykes

LEWISTON — The Toy Library and Sharecenter will hold their second annual Trikes for Tykes, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at the Toy Library, 134 College St.

The event will feature indoor tricycle riding, crafts, karate and dance demos, face painting, scavenger hunt, silent auction, a bake sale and door prizes.

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on March 10 were as follows.

First: Jim Craven and Roger Briggs; second: Connie St. Pierre and Roger Patry; third: Betty Ames and Andrea Metayer; fourth: Sandy Oliver and Louise Pelletier; fifth: Sue Dunlap and Robert Oliver.
