TOGUS — William J. Cashin Jr., 82, of South Paris passed away Sunday, March 13, at the Veterans’ Affairs Medical Center.
He was born in Los Angeles, Calif., July 27, 1928, the son of William and Dorothy (Drake) Cashin. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.
He work for American Can Co. for 22 years then became head custodian at Hacienda LaPuente School District in California, for nine years.
He was a very active member of the VFW and American Legion.
William was very much a people person, loved to socialize whereever he was. He just loved having his special granddaughter, Tehya visit. He fought the battle of cancer for 10 years, but had a very positive outlook on life.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Ruby; three children, John W. Cashin of Tucson, Ariz., Diana DuBief of Norway and William J. Cashin III of Norway; grandchildren, Erica Heitzer, Ashley Cashin, special granddaughter, Tehya LeeAnne Cashin, Candace Gaphart and Dominique DuBief; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Jennette Ernst, Kathy Baum and Susan Zook; and brother, Carl Johnson.
He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Joleen DuBief; and great-grandson, Brandon DuBief.
