LEWISTON — Charles E. Hinkley, 61, of Wales, died Monday, March 14, at Central Maine Medical Center, following a short illness.

He was born in Lewiston, Oct. 14, 1949, the son of Rosco C. and Adrienne (Vallie) Hinkley and had been a resident of this community all of his life. He was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of 1968. He then attended Auburn Maine School of Commerce.

Charles was a CEO and president of Sabattus Regional Credit Union and the Lisbon branch for 39 years. He was a Boy Scout Troop leader, religious education teacher, was a member of a band, a member of the JC’s, member of the Sabattus Business Association and chairman of the Board of Insurance Trust.

He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Sabattus.

He is survived by his wife, the former Linda Lemay, whom he married on Oct. 11, 1975, of Wales; his father, Rosco C. Hinkley of Eliot; one son, Keith Hinkley and his wife, Carrie, of Wales; one daughter, Heather Renn and her husband, Corey, of Texas; four grandchildren, Alex and Adam Hinkley and Gabriella and Isabell Renn; two sisters, Patricia Levesque of Eliot and Barbara Wyman and her husband, Ray, of New Gloucester; and eight nieces and nephews.
