An early advance showing of house furnishings for spring and summer that will gladden the hearts of housewives is being presented by the Atherton Furniture Co. in its six-story building. In this building every variety and kind of house furnishing is presented, including upholsteries and curtains, summer home furniture, floor coverings, kitchen goods, housekeeping utilities and a complete line of the famous Glenwood Ranges.
50 years ago, 1961
Annual Dairy Day will be observed in Lewiston-Auburn on May 27, it was decided this week at a Maine Dairy Club meeting held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Meade of the North River Road. A Dairy Day parade and coronation will be featured.
25 years ago, 1986
The Maine State Beekeepers Association will meet March 22 for its annual meeting. It will take place at Happy Jack’s Restaurant, Lisbon Street, Lewiston.
Speakers will be Tony Jadcezak, state bee inspector, and Dr. Scott McClintock, who will discuss bee stings and allergies. The junior and senior Beekeeper of the Year Award will be presented. The second annual bake-off contest featuring recipes made with honey will be held and winners will be selected.
