HAINES CITY, Fla. — Alcide G. Nadeau, 75, of Davenport, Fla., formerly of Lewiston, died on Tuesday, Jan. 25, at Haines City Health Care with Good Shepherd Hospice.
He was born in Lewiston, Aug. 20, 1935, to the late Cecile Poussard Perron Nadeau and Alcide Perron, he grew up in Lewiston and graduated from St. Dominic High School, Class of 1953.
Upon his graduation, he served his country with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. In 1956, he married the love of his life, the former Lucille Langlois, at Saints Peter and Paul Church in Lewiston and together they raised four sons.
After being honorably discharged, he attended the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy at Storrs, Conn., in 1961. Alcide started his pharmacy career in Bangor, then later returned to Lewiston as owner and operated of Bedard Health Care Pharmacy from 1967 to 1997. Following 1997, he worked for Wal-Mart Pharmacy in both Maine, and Florida. Alcide practiced as a pharmacist for more than 50 years.
He served as president of the Maine Pharmacy Association, secretary for the Pharmacy Group of New England, president and secretary for Central Maine Pharmacy Association, past president of the Kiwanis Club of Auburn-Lewiston and also past president of the Kiwanis Club of Greater Haines City, Fla.
Alcide was also consultant pharmacist to many nursing and boarding homes in the Lewiston-Auburn area. His faith in the Lord was his foundation for life. He always felt the need to help and serve others as a eucharistic minister and it was in his final days that he decided to donate his body to medical research.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lucille; sons, Dr. Gerald Nadeau and his wife, Celine, of Auburn, Dr. Donald Nadeau of Coventry, R.I., Michael Nadeau and his wife, Annette, of Sabattus and Dr. Andre Nadeau and his wife, Shelley, of Winthrop; three brothers, Roger and his wife, Muriel, Raymond and his wife, Irene and Ronald and his wife, Marjory; sister-in-law, Lucille Nadeau of Sabattus; brother-in-law, Richard Langlois of Florida; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Alcide was a loving, devoted, caring and hard working husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He was predeceased by his mother, Cecile Perron Nadeau; his father, Alcide Perron; his stepfather, Meril Nadeau; and a brother, Richard (Dick) Nadeau.
