WESTBROOK — Esther S. Mair, 92, passed away March 14, in Westbrook, after a lengthy illness.
A longtime resident of Auburn, she was born in Turner, Nov. 6, 1918, the daughter of the late Earl and Mildred Warren Staples. After graduating from Leavitt High School in Turner, Esther attended Gorham Normal School, which later became part of the University of Southern Maine. She taught in the Auburn School System for 30 years. She was married to James A. Mair, who predeceased her in 2000.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth A. Mair and his wife, Joy, of Williamsburg, Va., and the Rev. James A. Mair Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla.; a grandson, Todd A. Mair and his wife, Julie, of Cordova, Alaska; a sister, Lois Grant of Westover, Mass.; a brother-in-law, James Blanchard of Supply, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. A special mention of Donna Householder and children, Kachera, Austin and Kloena of Middleburg, Fla.; and other loving family members and friends. Esther will be missed by all.
