LIVERMORE FALLS — The Jay-Livermore Falls Seniors met March 13 at Murray Hall with 33 members present.

Chairwoman Shirley Couture welcomed the group back after a two-week absence.  She reported the Farm Share program is available again this year at the cost of $50 for fresh vegetables during the summer. Call 800-427-1241 for more information about farms in the area.

Lois Gordon was reported on the sick list. Couture also reported that Charles and Marie Lapointe lost their son to cancer recently in Spokane, Wash. 

A Franco-American celebration was held at the State House in Augusta on March 16. There were displays, music and induction of citizens to the Franco-American Hall of Fame.

There will be benefit supper on Saturday, March 19, for the Van Blacom family who were burned out of their home earlier this month.  The supper will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at the KC Hall, Main Street, for $5. There will be a dance following the supper for $3 until 11 p.m.

Representatives of SeniorPlus were at LaFleur’s Restaurant on March 15 to announce the new SeniorPlus meals available at the restaurant. Dinner certificates  can be purchased from Couture.

Francis Therrien and Eugene Pomerleau were reminded that since they won the Easter baskets last year, they must refill them and return them for the raffle this year. 

The group will hold a Whatever Chinese Auction on Monday, March 21.

Representatives from the state insurance division will attend the Monday, March 28, meeting. The will speak about the changes in Medicare, Medicaid and other  insurance benefits.  Anyone from the  Jay-Livermore Falls area is invited to attend.  The representatives will answer personal questions after the meeting. 

Gloria Bickford won the 50/50 this week. Jeanne Williams, Blanche Bilodeau, George Doiron and Lorette Chabot won the door prizes donated by Ellie Mitchell, Marie Gagnon, Marilyn DeSoto and Carmen Moreau. 

Following adjournment, refreshments donated by Carmen Moreau, Diane Getz, Geraldine Richard, Nancy Couture and Fernande Doiron were served. 

Pat Couture and Alice Demoras volunteered to be the refreshment committee next week. The rest of the afternoon, members played cards and games.
