LEWISTON — Mary Annetta Wrentzel, 83, a resident of Poulin Court, Turner, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 16, at Marshwood Nursing Home.

She was born Jan. 31, 1928, in Ridley Park, Pa., the daughter of Archie and Gertrude (Dawson) Grant. She graduated from Folcroft Junior High, Folcroft, Pa., in 1942, Glen-Nor High School, Glenolden, Pa., in 1945, and the Philadelphia College of Bible in 1949.

Mary was a home missionary with the Child Evangelism Fellowship, Reading, Pa., where she taught in the schools and playgrounds. In June 1957, she married her husband of 53 years, E. Richard Wrentzel. He passed away Sept. 6, 2010.

Together they spent their lives ministering to others in Watertown and Lynn, Mass., Ossining, N.Y., East Auburn, and Bozrah, Conn. Following their retirement, they served as interim pastorates in North Livermore, Greene and Canton. Together they enjoyed visiting while her husband served as pastor of visitation at the Turner Village Church in Turner.

Mary spent many years working with children and teenagers and later with the ladies classes and the elderly. She devoted her life to her husband, son, grandchildren and friends.

Mary is survived by her son, Stephen Wrentzel of Auburn; grandchildren, Karen Wrentzel of The Forks, and Jeremy Wrentzel of Auburn; sister-in-law, Phyllis Wrentzel of Florida; sister and brother-in-law, Jack and Dorothy Noel of Lancaster, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Elaine Wrentzel in 1992; and her husband, E. Richard Wrentzel in 2010.
