ST. HYACINTHE, Quebec — Sister Mildred Rancourt, 98, of the congregation of the Sisters of Charity of Saint Hyacinthe passed away on March 17.

She was born in Waterville, May 28, 1912. She entered the Community on Aug. 1, 1936, and made profession on Feb. 3, 1939.

She served in Manitoba from 1944 to 1953. She came back to the United States, where she served at Hospice St. Antoine as a nurse’s assistant caring for the elderly in North Smithfield, R.I. In 1958, she was stationed in Lewiston, where she continued to care for the sick until 1995.

She was very appreciated in all that she did for the sick and the elderly. She was transferred in 1995 to our Mother House in Canada, where she was doing some knitting for the poor. She became ill in 2004, having led a full life in the service of God, and mankind.
