This is in response to the letter from Clinton Larson (March 14).
Where will his wife be working in Lewiston-Auburn and who have they been talking with? Both need to educate themselves about this community.
They need to look through an L-A Magazine, or the arts calendar; or dine at the fine restaurants (some have as many out-of-town diners as locals); or to one of the live theaters or the local performing arts center; or browse through the active libraries or the museums; or research the festivals. I could go on.
Residents who continue to have a negative image of L-A are not engaged in the community, and probably don’t read the local newspapers or interact with those who do.
People do come to L-A for leisure. They stay at my bed and breakfast and at other fine establishments. The area may not be a shopping mecca but there’s plenty to do and see in L-A.
Every community, including Sioux Falls, S.D., has an underbelly, and Mark LaFlamme revels in and reports on L-A’s underbelly in a candid, fascinating way that is entertaining and enlightening. Let’s just say he’s not the tourism commissioner, but he fits in L-A and is an award-winner in his role.
Methinks Mr. Larson needs to take a closer look. I would hate to see the Larsons wasting gas commuting when they could be living a fulfilling life right here in L-A.
