What in the world are the members of the current Legislature thinking? Have they all just gone stupid?
They are debating whether the whoopie pie should be the state dessert. There is Sen. Ron Collins of Wells sponsoring a bill to lessen the punishment of not wearing a seat belt. And there is Sen. Elizabeth Schneider of Orono jumping right in proclaiming the law is a violation of people’s rights.
Just because a small group of people have voiced their opposition to seat belts.
How many times in just the past year have there been stories about people who died or were seriously injured for not wearing their seat belts?
The safety issue for seat belts has been proven during the past 40 years.
Have either of these two senators ever been involved in an accident? I have and am here today because of a seat belt.
Let’s see, an accident without wearing a seat belt and insurance pays nada, nothing. Bet that would change some ideas about seat belts.
I won’t even get into the proposal regarding texting and cellphones. Common sense should prevail.
