LEWISTON — Robert R. Caron, 83, of 100 Campus Ave., Lewiston, died Saturday, March 19, at St. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion.

He was born on Jan. 4, 1928, the son of the late Narcisse and Josephine Boucher Caron. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific theater as a military policeman. On April 5, 1952, he married the former Thelma Huntley of Lewiston, who survives him. He then worked for more than 20 years in the local textile industry as a weaver. He then worked for many years at the former Food Town and Shaw’s grocery stores prior to his retirement.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, David Caron, and his wife Jeanne of Coventry, Conn.; one brother, Emile Caron of Lewiston; two grandchildren, Laura and Matthew Caron of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Germaine Bernatchez and Yvette Dubreuil and by five brothers, Arthur, Lionel, Lucien, Fernand and Laurier Caron.
