AUBURN — Evelyn L. Hartwell, 86, passed to Heaven March 20, at the Hospice House.

She was born Dec. 26, 1924, a daughter of the late Philip and Aurelie (Bernier) Richard.

Evelyn loved to bowl and often times her scores were better than some mens’. She enjoyed traveling to the southwest and trips to Europe, New Zealand, Australia, Mexico, and Alaska. Evelyn worked as a lab technician and later became an excellent cook and homemaker. She loved to read devouring books in short order. She had an outgoing personality and people liked her immediatley. Evelyn was a eucharistic minister for Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lisbon Falls.

Evelyn leaves behind her husband, Philip of 62 years; her two children, Ann Barbay and husband, Don, of Lisbon Falls and John Hartwell and wife, Karen Rohrbacher, of South Portland; one granddaughter, Jessica Barbay of Oregon; a sister, Phyllis Bickford of Lisbon Falls; as well as many lifelong friends; and her bowling league.

She was predeceased by her sister, Loretta; and her brother, Robert.
