The Union Musical Club of New Auburn will meet Bliss Business College at basketball Thursday evening in the former’s new hall. Bliss has a fast team and the Union Musical team has already won two games since its organization a short time ago. On the same night, E.L.H.S. freshmen will meet the Union Musical second team prior to the other game. There will be also a concert by the Union Musical band.
50 years ago, 1961
Armand G. Sansoucy, Lewiston city auditor, was elected president of the Sabattus Pond Improvement Association at an organizational meeting of property owners last night at Friends Reception Hall.
The association plans to complete its organization of cottage owners before the summer season arrives and seeks state and county funds to aid in cleaning the waters of the pond of weeds and algae. The total estimated cost for cleaning the lake has been placed at $14,050.

Any time you convince a legend to visit Lewiston it’s bound to be a special day. Sunday Herve Fillion, the harness sport’s winningest driver, now approaching 10,000 career victories, will highlight a driving contest at Lewiston raceway in the fifth annual North American Driving Championship.
The series involves 12 drivers invited from outside tracks and four local stars. During the afternoon, Jim Doherty, who drove here 15 years ago, will be honored on the occasion of his 3,000th win, earned in 1985 at the Meadowlands.
