NEWRY — Maine Handicapped Skiing will host the 26th annual MHS Ski-A-Thon on Saturday, March 26, at Sunday River resort.

New participants and five-person teams are registering daily and soliciting pledges and donations on behalf of Maine’s largest adaptive recreation program for people with disabilities. Ski-A-Thon teams that raise $1,000 or more by the day of the event receive free lift tickets, meals, participation in countless activities throughout the resort and invitation to a festive celebration that evening. Roughly 800 people are expected to participate in this year’s event.

New this year is “Find Your Happy Place,” an on-mountain scavenger hunt

Raffle tickets are available for the annual drawing that takes place at the Ski-A-Thon awards ceremony. This year’s prizes include a Wilderness Systems sea kayak, a week stay in New York City and an Xbox 360 gaming system. Tickets start at $5 each and one does not to be present at the event to win.

Skiers or riders can join the 26th annual MHS Ski-A-Thon anytime before March 26 by calling 824-2440, visiting www.skimhs.org/Ski-A-Thon or emailing [email protected].
