LEWISTON — Legendary Canadian fiddler Richard Wood will bring his “Masters of the Celtic Fiddle” concert to the Franco-American Heritage Center, Skye Theatre Performing Arts Center in South Carthage and Unity College Center for the Performing Arts in Unity.
For more than two decades, Wood has performed across Canada, as well as in the United States, Europe and Japan. Highlights include TV guest appearances with Shania Twain on “David Letterman” and “Good Morning America,” Carnegie Hall with Irish legends The Chieftains, a featured performance on CBC’s Canada Day on Parliament Hill, “Rita MacNeil and Friends” and a performance with Jean Butler of Riverdance on “Celtic Electric.”
Wood has played for Canada’s prime minister, the queen of England and the emperor of Japan. In the late 1990s, he toured the United Kingdom and Europe, headlining concert halls and folk festivals. He has since played at the Lincoln Centre in New York City and Epcot at Disney World, and was a featured performer in the touring fiddle spectacle “Bowfire.”
He has five CD recordings and has won three Canadian East Coast Music Awards.
Concerts will be on Tuesday, March 29, at the Franco Center, on Wednesday, March 30, at Skye Theatre and on Monday, March 31, at Unity College Center. Curtain is at 7 p.m. at the Franco Center and Skye, and at 7:30 p.m. at Unity. Preshow jam sessions at Skye and Unity will begin one hour prior to show.
