FARMINGTON — A town plow truck slid down Voter Hill and rolled on to its side early Tuesday morning.

The road was slippery as Roger Gingras started plowing up Voter Hill at about 12:30 a.m. Wet, heavy snow had fallen since about noon on Monday.

The road was also rough, so Gingras had to creep up the hill or he would have been bounced around, Denis Castonguay, Public Works director, said later Tuesday morning.

Just as Gingras almost reached the top of the steep hill, the plow truck started to spin and slid down to the bottom of the hill, he said.

It was years of experience on a town plow truck that helped Gingras negotiate the slide, Castonguay said. The vehicle tipped over gently and it was not damaged, he said.

It was left until daylight when heavy equipment was brought in to right it, he said. It was driven back to the town garage at about 9 a.m.

Franklin County Deputy David Rackliffe responded to the scene as did Farmington Fire and Rescue to check for fuel spills.
