It’s been a fun winter comparing the weather predictions of the good-natured folks at the nearly 200-year-old Farmers’ Almanac in Lewiston against an equally good-natured fox at the Maine Wildlife Park in Gray. We’ve seen snow. We’ve seen rain. We’ve seen Stormy in some truly fabulous headwear.
But now that spring has officially arrived, we have to say goodbye to Stormy and the almanac and tally up the forecast results of the lighthearted competition we’ve had in this space all winter.
But first, last week’s results. This final weekly furcast wasn’t a decisive victory, but we’re giving it to the Farmers’ Almanac.
While Stormy predicted it would be windy, rainy and warm over this past week, the almanac called for fair weather. And fair weather it was. Mostly. Although two of the past seven days did include snow or rain, five were fair. It was a tough call, but we let majority rule on this one.
