I find it interesting, though not surprising, that in a matter of a few days, President Barack Obama has wandered from supporting diplomatic pressure and non-military action to now ordering the launch of more than 100 cruise missiles on Libya.
It’s a right and just cause though, because Obama said so.
In a classic case of “our war is better than your war,” the usual Democratic heavies were falling all over themselves on the Sunday morning talk shows to support freedom for the Libyan people.
The justification is that Gadhafi is using the military against his own people, as if this is the first time such a thing has happened in the world of Arab dictators.
Interesting too, that in the midst of tough economic times, the U.S. can be involved in more military actions in the name of nation building.
That will be OK, because we are told that things are getting better economically (even if I don’t see them, I hear the signs are all around us). Things could be so rosy by year’s end that Obama may even begin his 2012 campaign by asking people if they are better off than they were four years ago.
And if for some reason, things don’t get better, there will always be George W. Bush to blame for the national and worldwide recession, those lingering Iraq and Afghan war costs and maybe even the increasing geologic upheavals taking place during the past year or so.
