PORTLAND — Marvis Laura (Hoyt) Maynard, 75, of South Paris, died Wednesday, March 23, at Maine Medical Center.
She was born in Springfield, Mass., March 29, 1935, the daughter of Cmdr. Philip Chaplin Hoyt of Bridgton and Ione Whitney Hoyt of Granville, N.Y. Marvis graduated Wrentham High School, Class of 1953, in Wrentham, Mass.
She married Rolland Maynard on March 16, 1963. Marvis was a librarian, enjoyed knitting and crocheting, served as president of the Knitting Guild and was awarded many blue ribbons for her craft. She was also an accomplished piano player and member of the First Congregational Church, South Paris. Most notably, Marvis was a loving and giving wife and mother to her family. She will be greatly missed by all.
Marvis is survived by her husband, Jim of South Paris; two daughters, Diana Cala of Middleboro, Mass., and Colleen Knights of Cincinnati, Ohio; a son, James Maynard of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.; a granddaughter, April Heiser of Wisconsin; a grandson, Jared Knights of Tucson, Ariz.; a great-granddaughter, Haleigh Lynn; a great-grandson, Jesse Thomas; a niece, Kathleen Foster; and two nephews, William Hamilton and Wayne Hamilton.
