AUGUSTA — Garry B. Hanson, 56, of Noyes Street Place, died unexpectedly on March 19 at his residence.

He was born in Lewiston on Oct. 2, 1954, the son of George Earl Hanson and Elsie (Bryant) Hanson. He graduated from Livermore Falls High School and later attended the University of Maine at Augusta.

Our brother was a beautiful person, gifted athlete, artist and musician. He suffered for the last 35 years with mental illness. Just as other diseases ruin lives, mental illness does also. It is more prevalent and common than many people will admit. He will be sadly missed and never forgotten. Peace and freedom be with you, brother.

Surviving are two brothers, Barry Hanson of Livermore and Larry Hanson of Turner; one niece, Ivy; and nephews, Ian, Aaron, Drew and Dane.

He was predeceased by his parents.
