I have been watching and, yes, listening to the Auburn city councilors since returning after many years to reside in Auburn. I am appalled at Michael Farrell, Daniel Herrick and Ray Berube’s lack of civility. Are they not aware that their neighbors elected them to fulfill their offices in a dignified and proper manner?

I see nothing in their manners that is dignified, which is supposed to denote both a positive feeling of esteem for a person or persons or other entity, and also specific actions and conduct representative of that esteem.

Rude conduct is usually considered to indicate a lack of respect and even knowledge.

Respect should be shown, not be confused with tolerance, since tolerance does not necessarily imply any positive feeling and/or is compatible with contempt. Walking away from a presentation by fellow Auburn school officials was not respectful.

Maybe the fiscal crisis is too much for the three of them, and maybe it is time for them to walk away. They do not have the respect or style to go with their official title that, by tradition, indicates the experience necessary for holders of such a position.

Evidently, those three forgot there are others who have an agenda.

They should have listened to the school officials with open minds and used some common sense.
