NOKOMIS, Fla. — Thomas B. Alling, 79, formerly of South Paris and East Providence, R.I., passed away March 25.

Born in Providence, R.I., he attended East Providence schools and joined the Marine Corps after high school, from 1949 to 1952. He was a builder in the South Paris area for 25 years and belonged to St. Catherine Church in Norway for 40 years.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara; daughters, Kathleen Gowe of Bradenton, Robin Cruce of Vero Beach, Fla., and Elise Alling of Owingsville, Ky.; brothers, Robert of North Norway, Alan Afflerbach of North Port, Fla., and Stephen Afflerbach of Swansea, Mass.; sister, Carolyn Feiro of Riverside, R.I.; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren; and his best friend, Bill.

Tom was predeceased by his son, Thomas W., in 2002.
