Land trust series

BETHEL — Mahoosuc Land Trust Local Knowledge Series will feature a talk on “Endurance Riding” at 7 p.m. Friday, April 1, at Trustees Auditorium, McLaughlin Science Building, Gould Academy.

Kathy Brunjes and Tom Hutchinson will talk about their participation on horseback in endurance riding events, nationally and internationally.

The program is open to the public and is free. Donations will be accepted to help fund the programs.

Knitting guild

PARIS — The Western Knitting Guild will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, at the First Congregational Church, South Paris. The guest speaker will be Marty Elkins from A Wrinkle in Thyme. She will teach how to felt.

Fit Over 40

PARIS — The MaineHealth Learning Resource Center at Stephens Memorial Hospital will  offer “Fit Over 40” from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesdays, April 6 to May 11, at Personal Best Health Club, 141 Western Ave., South Paris. There is a $30 cost.

Christine Bishop, certified personal trainer, will present the series to work on flexibility, strength and balance. The classes will teach how to use hand weights, Thera-Bands and yoga to develop fitness. Wear comfortable clothing and bring water.

Knitting classes

WEST PARIS — Elaine Emery is offering a knitting class for adult beginners to be held at the West Paris Library, 226 Main St. The first of three weekly classes will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 4.

All supplies will be provided or participants may bring their own. There will be opportunity to complete a project. No fee is required. If interested, sign up at the library in person or by phone at 674-2004.

This is the first of adult enrichment programs to be sponsored by the Friends of the West Paris Library. Library hours are 1:30 to 6 p.m. Mondays and Fridays, 1:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.

Kindergarten registration

HARTFORD — Hartford-Sumner Elementary School kindergarten registration and screening for the 2011 class will take place from 8:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday and Friday, April 14 and 15. All children who register must be 5 years old on or before Oct. 15, 2011.

To register, contact the Hartford Sumner Elementary School office at 388-2681 and be prepared to provide the child’s name, address, telephone number and date of birth. Parents must bring an official copy of their child’s birth certificate. Screenings last approximately an hour.
