LEWISTON — Elizabeth N. Belanger, 84, a resident of 100 College St., Lewiston, died late Friday, March 25, at Central Maine Medical Center, following a short illness, with her family by her side.

She was born in Berlin, N.H., July 31, 1926, the daughter of Patrick and Alvina (Morin) Ray. Following her education, she moved to Lewiston in 1943, where she met the love of her life, Bertrand Belanger, whom she married on May 4, 1946. He died May 6, 1997.

Elizabeth was a former member of St. Joseph’s Church and had been employed for more than 35 years at the former Crest Shoe, retiring in 1991. After retirement, she became an avid reader and spent time enjoying her grandchildren and her entire family.

Survivors include her two sons, Donald Belanger and his wife, Georgette, of Tucson, Ariz., and William Belanger and his wife, Cathy, of Pagosa, Colo.; one brother, Patrick Ray and his wife, Estelle, of Burlington, Vt.; two sisters, Nora Guay of Jackson, N.H., and Louise Slote of Biloxi, Miss.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews; and a former son-in-law, Bruce Angelides of Lewiston.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Nancy Angelides Sept. 7, 2006.
