LEWISTON — La Rencontre will meet at 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 1, at the Franco-American Heritage Center, 46 Cedar St.
The meal will include lasagna with meatballs, garlic knots, Caesar salad, dessert and beverage. The cost of the meal is $7 a person. After the meal, the program will include a performance by L’Ecole Francasie du Maine in a production titled “Poisson d’avril.”
Patrons are encouraged to speak only French during the meal in the newly-renovated heritage hall, followed by entertainment in the performance hall.
“Poisson d’avril” celebrates April Fool’s Day “à la Française.” In the French tradition, April Fool’s is the “Poisson d’Avril” and French children spend the day placing paper fish on each other’s backs and making up fantastic stories.
Children from the school have prepared short sketches and songs to share with the audience. L’Ecole Française du Maine is the only French immersion school north of Boston.
Everyone is invited to attend La Rencontre, and reservations may be made by calling Claudette Violette at 786-6936 or the center at 783-1585.
