FARMINGTON — The Muellers, a Maine-based family band, will bring its high-energy blend of traditional, contemporary and original bluegrass music to Nordica Auditorium on the University of Maine at Farmington campus.
The concert, which begins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 1, will benefit Japanese earthquake relief efforts.
The band is made up of five of seven Mueller siblings: Tom, 25, on guitar; Laurah, 18, on mandolin; Sarah, 15, on fiddle; John, 12, on fiddle; and George, 9, on fiddle — plus parents Curt, on banjo, and Karen, on bass. The other Muellers are Annah, 23, and Bob, 20, both former members of the traveling music group. Annah currently studies art at UMF and produces all of the group’s promotional art and maintains its website, www.MuellerFamilyMusic.com.
The band has four albums to its credit and is the subject of a 2008 documentary film, “Talent to Burn,” which explores the early development of the family band and the effect of their musical careers on family life.
Suggested donation: $10 for adults, $3 for students. Nordica Auditorium is in UMF Merrill Hall.
