AUBURN — Nancy Lang Wilcox of New Gloucester died March 27, in Auburn.

She was born Aug. 18, 1927, in Portland, the daughter of Harold Drew and Gladys C. Hanson Lang. She attended Cape Elizabeth High School, Wayneflete Academy graduating from Oakgrove in Vassalboro and Beaver College in Boston.

She married Heywood A. Sawyer of South Portland on Sept. 4, 1946, and they had four children. She later married Edgar A. Wilcox Jr. of New Gloucester on Aug. 24, 1968.

Mrs. Wilcox was a Cub Scout Den Mother, Girl Scout Leader, Member of State Street Church in Portland, Youth Choir Director, Active in the Ladies Guild, Member of the Yarmouth Congregational Church, many crafting organizations including the Southern Maine Crafters Association, and was Past President and Lifetime Member of the New Gloucester Historical Society.

Mrs. Wilcox was a concert pianist, owned her own craft shop, and volunteered with the Sabbathday Lake Shaker Community in the Shaker Store.

She is survived by her sister, Katharine Lang Patterson of Carmel, Calif.; four children, Susan D. Hovell of South Dennis, Mass., Heywood A. Sawyer Jr. of Virginia Beach, Va., Katharine R. Roberts of Los Angeles, Calif., and Madalyne M. Merrill of Poland; eight granchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
