AUBURN — Scrabble fans are invited to help raise money for Literacy Volunteers by playing their favorite board game 12:30 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 10, at the Hilton Garden Inn, Riverwatch, Auburn.
It is Scrabble with a twist, as the competition features teams of four collaborating over the same letter tray to try and out-score another four-person team.
To participate, players bring a minimum of $15 each in pledges, but the goal is to raise as much money as possible for Literacy Volunteers. Prizes are awarded to the top fundraisers.
Among the prizes this year will be a handmade quilt, an HP 8500 printer, pottery and a $75 gift certificate. Check the LV-A Web site at www.literacyvolunteersandro.org for updates.
Door prizes, raffles, word games and refreshments will all be part of the event.
Those interested may form a four-person team and choose a team name and register in the pro or social level of competition by Monday, April 4. Teams should collect pledges for Literacy Volunteers and bring the money with them to the fest.
