DURHAM — In the only contest in Friday’s municipal election, Board of Selectmen Vice Chairman Philip Gilikson, Barry Baldwin and Joseph Rasmussen will vie for two three-year openings on the board. Chairman Denise LaFlamme is not seeking re-election.
Voting will take place from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Durham Community School gymnasium. Town meeting will resume at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Durham Community School gymnasium.
Gilikson, 55, of Brickyard Hill Road, who is completing his first term as selectman, is married and the father of three. He has lived in Durham since 2002 and is self-employed in the music/video field.
Baldwin, 60, of Runaround Pond Road, is making his first try for elective office. Single, he is self-employed in the excavating and logging business. He has lived in town for nearly 30 years.
Rasmussen, 51, of Runaround Pond Road, is married, the father of four and an industrial contractor. He has lived in Durham for about four years and is making his first try for elective office.
Unopposed races
Jeanne Sanders, Milton Simon and Roy Wenger are running unopposed for three openings on the Budget Committee.
Also unopposed is veteran tax collector and treasurer Pauline Paradis who is running for her 24th consecutive year in those dual positions.
The remaining year on the term of Selectman Norman Newell Jr., who resigned, and a three-year seat on the Regional School Unit 5 Board of Directors held by Cory Holt will be filled by write-in votes. Holt is not seeking re-election.
