Lenten discussion

BOLSTERS MILLS — As part of the weekly Lenten discussions on comparative faiths, Iman Adilah Hummand will participate at the Bolsters Mills United Methodist Church from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 31. There will be a soup and bread supper at 6:15 p.m. and all are invited.

Hummand is from the Lewiston-Auburn community and will discuss the Muslim faith, history and beliefs.

On Thursday, April 7, a representative of the Catholic faith will join the discussion. Future discussions will include representatives of other Christian faiths.

Sunday services

NORWAY — “Considering Sacrifice: Both Sacred and Secular” will be the focus at Sunday, April 3, services at the First Universalist Churches of Norway and West Paris. The service at West Paris will at 9 a.m.; the service in Norway at 11 a.m.

Child care is available and both services will be followed by refreshments and conversation/discussion. All are welcome.

Supper, dance

PARIS — Jones Dance Band will perform on Saturday, April 2, at the Legion Hall, Church Street, South Paris. There will be a supper from 5 to 6 p.m. for $7 and a dance at 6:30 p.m. for $5.

Lenten lunches

PARIS — Deering Memorial United Methodist Church will sponsor a Lenten lunch from noon to 1 p.m. Thursdays, April 7 and 14.

Lunch includes soup, sandwiches and salads. There will be a 20-minute sermonette featuring a different local minister each week. The cost is $6. The church is located next to the South Paris Public Library.

AL yard sale

PARIS — A yard sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at American Legion Post 72, Church Street, South Paris. The lunch counter will be open and 50/50 tickets will be sold.

Basket workshop

PARIS — The Seneca Club of the Paris Public Library will sponsor an Easter basket workshop from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at the South Paris Congregational Church. The cost is $25 per weaver and includes all materials plus lunch. Door prizes will be given.

The workshop is a fundraiser for the children’s programs at the library. It will be taught by basket weaver Karen Ellis and her “basket buddies.”
